JAKARTA. A wonderful city in the heart of the islands of Indonesia. One of the busiest and culture rich cities you'll ever find in Asia. Join me as I explore this magnificent city of more than 9 million inhabitants. Let's talk about their food, culture, attractions and people.
The gateway to Jakarta is Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. It is a modern airport situated at least 5 km away from the city.
FROM THE AIRPORT TO YOUR HOTEL
As a tourist you have 2 convenient options to choose from you can either take a regular cab which you can easily at the arrival gates or you can choose Indonesia's one of the most trusted taxi groups which is the Bluebird taxi. Before arriving in Jakarta my friend told me to choose the bluebird taxi because you can trust the drivers and they go the extra mile to help you find your hotel.
Bluebird taxis are very popular so you have to expect a long queue on the bluebird taxi lane.
(My hotel was in Central Jakarta so it cost me IDR 150.000 = USD 13)
Every room has its own balcony :) The owner is very friendly and very accommodating.
GOING AROUND JAKARTA
Like any other cities, Jakarta' traffic situation is quite bad. That's why it is not advisable for you to drive cars but what I can recommend is for you to try Grab bike or Go-Jek (just like grab bike) These modes of transportation is very popular around Jakarta and you can easily get one by using your phone's app. It is also considerably cheaper than taking a normal taxi.
THE FOOD
Most Indonesia foods are spicy. But what I love most about it is that it has peanut sauce. Something that I will always crave for. I found a hidden restaurant garden in South Jakarta named Omah Pincuk ( for details you can visit IG: https://www.instagram.com/resto_omahpincuk/)
\
It's a garden type restaurant that serves authentic Indonesian, Chines and Japanese food. Once you enter this place, you'll forget that you are in the middle of the city. It's very calm, the sound of the water flowing is relaxing, you can watch some koi fishes swimming around while waiting. It's a perfect place for nature lovers.
If you want to experience Jakarta's night life, you can visit Sarinah. It's a popular place where most of the foreigners stay and have fun. Here, you can try exquisite food, party with fellow tourists and meet new people. You can also buy here a satay. ( a roasted goat meat on a stick).
OTHER PLACES TO VISIT
1. Monas
Indonesia's National monument. You can to the top of the tower too and have a breath taking view of the city (It's best to visit at night)
2. Istiqlal mosque
The biggest mosque in Jakarta and probably in Asia.
3. Jakarta Cathedral
It's the biggest Catholic cathedral in the city and its just opposite the mosque. This uniqur setting symbolizes religious tolerance.
4. Kota Tua (Batavia)
An old and historical city. It's perfect for instagram pictures.
5. Taman Mini
Here you can find all the major attractions in all of Indonesia's provinces, From Sulawesi to Bali, Aceh and a lot more.

THE HOTEL
I always choose to book my hotel with Booking.com because they offer lots of discounted hotels and you are guaranteed that your reservation is secured. I stayed at ALFU residence which is just 1.7km away from the famous Monas, Mosque, Cathedral, Sarinah, and Gambir station. (This one cost IDR 200.000 per night = USD 18)
Every room has its own balcony :) The owner is very friendly and very accommodating.
